This article summarizes the benefits and functionality of our Reverse Osmosis systems.
Need to Know
Reverse Osmosis units are a point-of-use system, meaning they are located under your sink and filter water through a separate faucet. Our units reduce chlorine, sediment, cysts, lead, chemicals, and TDS, among a whole other list of contaminants. These units have replaceable filters and a storage tank to hold product water for drinking and cooking.
Nice to Know
A Reverse Osmosis system uses water pressure to push water through three filters. The feed water meets the system at the Prefilter. The Prefilter is a cartridge composed of activated carbon – reducing chlorine taste and odor, and sediment.
From the Prefilter, the water moves to the Membrane which separates dissolved solids and organic matter from the water and rinses them down the drain. This slow and methodical process yields about one ounce of product water per minute, which travels to the Storage Tank.
The product water resides in the tank until you are ready to consume it. When you open the Faucet, a bladder in the tank forces the product water up and out to the Postfilter for one last cleaning.
The Postfilter uses activated carbon to reduce any remaining tastes and odors from the water directly before exits the faucet as high-quality drinking water.
